Past & Current Work
National Youth Forum on Homelessness : Instagram Launch
Homefull Bish: Tik Tok Launch
In February 2021, NYFH’s communications workgroup launched its own Instagram page to advance the work of ending youth homelessness and connect with youth and young adults.
I served as the project lead, mapping out the different roles of the communications team, creating content, and tracking Instagram analytics
Challenges: Posting content unintentionally became the responsibility of one person
Outcomes: The page successfully engaged and recruited new members of NYFH
On February 26, 2024, I launched a crowdfunding campaign for my short film, Transitional Age Youth
I utilized Instagram and Google HQ email blasts to direct people toward my Indiegogo page.
Challenges: Mid-week and weekends were slow donation days.
Outcomes: Raised $3,960 towards a $10,000 production budget
In January 2023, I launched the Homefull Bish’s TikTok page, which is an account that focuses on homelessness advocacy through both educational videos and memes
The account engaged people experiencing homelessness, persons with disabilities, and homeless service providers
Challenges: Certain TikTok videos “flopped,” and watch time diminished with longer videos
Outcomes: The Homefull Bish TikTok account currently has 360 followers, and the TikTok about permanent supportive housing consistently receives the most engagement
The Transgressive Comedy Hour
Transitional Age Youth: Crowdfunding Campaign
On March 31, 2024, I hosted The Transgressive Comedy Hour, a one night event to fundraise money for my short film, Transitional Age Youth
I booked a line up trans and queer comedians, promoted, and emceed the event
Challenges: Making sure enough tickets were sold
Outcomes: Raised $969 to a sold out show
Nashville Youth Action Board: Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program
In April 2018, I joined Nashville’s first Youth Action Board for the Department of Housing and Urban Development-funded Youth Homelessness Program, and served as the Chair
Co-created and implemented the Coordinated Community Plan for the Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program.
Facilitated conversations and disagreements, ensuring all members were heard, and synthesizing discussions into action.
Led several YAB projects, including a survey of youth experiencing homelessness, a training for local homeless service providers about adultism, and represented Nashville as a presenter at several national conferences.
Modern Military Magazine: The Blaq LGBT History Issue
